EPLEGAL ATTENDING THE SEMINAR “THE APPLICATION OF UNITED NATIONS CONVENTION ON CONTRACTS FOR THE INTERNATIONAL SALE OF GOODS IN PRACTICE-_ LESSONS LEARNED FOR VIETNAM”

 

On 20th January 2016, Nguyen Trung Nam Lawyer and some members of EPLegal attended the seminar “ The application of united nations convention on contracts for the international sale of goods in practice _Lessons learned for Vietnam” being held by Ho Chi Minh City Law University.

In the context of Vietnam having just become a member of United Nation Convention on Contracts for the international sale of goods (“Vienna Convention” or “CISG”), in line with the potential broad scope of the application of this Convention on trade activities in Vietnam, it is extremely necessary to organize research seminars on Vienna Convention. The seminar consists two sessions:

-          In the first session, Dr. Le Thi Anh Nguyet- Head of International Commerce Department – gave a speech to open the seminar. After that, rapporteurs presented research papers regarding overviews on, scope of application of and practical application in a number of countries.

-          The second session focus deep into the researches, papers on specific aspects of Vienna Convention, including: Nachfrist Notice, compensation for damage  caused by breach of contract, compensation for non-material damage and the practice of applying Vienna Convention by Vietnamese court and VIAC.

The seminar aims at sharing the information and enables the cooperation of researching on CISG, with the participation of the lecturers, students from Ho Chi Minh City Law University and EPLegal Limited.
